    I've also accidentally done it..not known what a figure was going for, and then been really surprised when the auction I started at $4.00 ended at $45.00. It's odd, how some figures become so in demand, because I can remember them clogging the pegs when they first came out and still being easy to find months after their release.

    I have done that for 3 or 4 figures from my collection. they were usually loose figs that I had one loose, one MOC. I saw what they were fetching on ebay & figured what the hell. I don't feel bad about it at all. It's the law of supply & demand.
